Original language description
The emerging technology of liquid precursor plasma spray opens the way to manufacture nanostructured coatings using the versatile technology of Plasma spraying. A suspension of nano-sized particles is injected to the plasma jet generated by the WSP torch; the liquid phase is fragmented into small droplets; then the liquid solvent is vaporized and the remaining solid phase is accelerated, melted and deposited on the steel substrates. A new injection system has been tested, and a study of spraying parameters has been performed in order to understand their relationship with microstructure and properties of the coating. The experiments were supported by experimental design in order to optimize effectiveness and homogeneity of deposited materials.
