Surface DBD streamer induced inactivation of Escherichia coli in humid air(ICPIG2013)
Original language description
Předneseno"(ICPIG)/31./Granada,14.07.2013-19.07.2013 We used non-thermal surface dielectric barrier discharge (SDBD) driven in humid synthetic air at atmospheric pressure for testing decontamination of Escherichia coli. Single/multiple streamer filamentswere produced in coplanar SDBD electrode geometry to compare efficiency of two CSDBD (point and large area) plasma sources for bacterial decontamination. Both conventional cultivation and fluorescent methods were applied to estimate counts of bacteria before and after the plasma treatment. Treated bacteria partly loose ability to grow precisely and become viable, but non-culturable. The fluorescent technique is able to distinguish live and dead cells according to smooth penetration trough membranes. The number of cells with damaged membranes correlates with the time of plasma treatment
