Original language description
In edge transport codes, parallel heat conduction is governed by the so-called Spitzer-Härm heat flux formula. This can, however, drastically overestimate heat fluxes in the low-collisionality tokamak SOL. We perform a sensitivity study of one kind of heat flux limiting, using the harmonic average, with heat flux limiters values ranging from 0.1 to 1.0. We observe that the simulation is quite sensitive to the choice of heat flux limiter - however, the mainly impacted plasma parameter is the ion temperature, which was rarely diagnosed on the COMPASS tokamak.
