Karyo-taxonomic study of the genus Pseudolysimachion (Scrophulariaceae) in the Czech Republic and Slovakia

  • Original language description

Flow cytometry was used to determine ploidy levels in the Czech and Slovak taxa of the genus Pseudolysimachion. In P. maritimum and P. spicatum two cytotypes were found: diploid (2n=2x=34) and tetraploid (2n=4x=68). In both species the tetraploid cytotype predominated. The two cytotypes of P. maritimum have no taxonomic significance because ploidy level is not obviously correlated with morphology, distribution of pattern or ecology. Tetraploid populations of P. spicatum belong to two morphologically different subspecies, subsp. spicatum and subsp. fischeri. The diploid cytotype should be provisionally classified as a third subspecies of P. spicatum, which is morphologically similar to the Asian subsp. porphyrianum. Only diploid plants of P. orchideum were found. One diploid population sample of P. spurium subsp. foliosum and one tetraploid sample of P. incanum subsp. pallens were also analyzed. In addition, three tetraploid populations of hybrid origin were investigated.

Taxonomická studie rodu Pseudolysimachion (Scrophulariaceae) v České a Slovenské republice

  • Czech description

Pro stanovení ploidie českých a slovenských taxonů rodu Pseudolysimachion byla využita průtoková cytometrie. Bylo analyzováno 123 populací z Čech, Slovenska, Ukrainy, Rakouska a Maďarska. Byly nalezeny dva cytotypy (2x a 4x) u druhů P. maritimum a P. spicatum. U druhu P. orchideum byly nalezeni pouze diploidní jedinci. Rovněž byla analyzována jedna diploidní populace P. spurium subsp. foliosum a jedna tetraploidní populace P. incanum subsp. pallens. Dále byly nalezeny tři tetraploidní populace hybridního původu: P. maritimum x P. spicatum subsp. spicatum (jedna populace) a P. maritimum x P. spurium subsp. foliosum (dvě populace). V práci je diskutován původ a evoluční význam polyploidie u rodu Pseudolysimachion.
