Cross-cultural comparison of incidence of low back pain among nursingení professionals in the Czech Republic and the United Kingdom
Original language description
Low-back pain is a major cause of morbidity and a common reason for absence from work among nurses, with costs for lost manpower, litigation, and compensation for the United Kingdom National Health Service (NHS). Manual handling training is a core competency for staff caring for patients in the United Kingdom. Manual handling training can counteract work related back injuries and further back problems. Training should take place regularly to refresh, update and re-emphasise the information received on earlier training courses. There is not yet a single opinion on how use of mechanical aids and manual handling training can be beneficial against high incidence of musculoskeletal disorders among nursing in the Czech Republic.
