Original language description
The study deals with the issue of procedural pain in full-term newborns during neonatal screening and the possibilities of its non-pharmacological relief using multisensory interventions. The aim of the study was to identify the most effective type of intervention and to assess the influence of selected perinatal factors on the intensity of the pain response. A prospective observational study was conducted in 76 full-term newborns, whose pain was assessed using behavioral scales. The results showed that breastfeeding is the most effective method of pain relief and that a combination of sensory stimuli is more effective than interventions without breastfeeding. Hypotrophy was identified as a risk factor for higher pain intensity. The study confirms the importance of active parental involvement and supports the introduction of breastfeeding as a standard part of care during capillary blood collection in newborns.
