Coping Approaches in Terms of the Development of Military Leaders
Original language description
One of the most important competencies as part of the development of future military leaders is the coping ability. This article aims to provide an overview of selected approaches to this phenomenon in the context of the military environment in which the interest in personal factors in contrast to situational factors is increasing these days again. Besides the historical and theoretical overview, the article offers numerous research findings related to the coping problem, taking into account the specifics of the army, with emphasis especially on the quality of the cognitive processes, the influence of stress on performance, etc. The primary purpose is to apply knowledge to military leadership and to find new impulses for the preparation and education of military professionals. In the end, the author draws attention to the need for greater flexibility than before and suggests a possible direction for further research.
