Variables of community social work and their interconnections in socio-spatial excluded neighbourhoods – example of the Czech Republic
Original language description
The article investigates the variables influencing community social work performance in a context of the socio-spatial excluded neighbourhoods in the Czechia. The paper aims to find out which variables influence community work in socio-spatial excluded localities and which of them contribute to the successful solving of the problems. The objective was achieved using quantitative research, within which 69 structured interviews with community workers. The data were analysed using descriptive statistical methods, Fisher’s exact test, a Wilcoxon test, and the Principal Component Analysis. Research results have confirmed that successful implementation of community work is based primarily on creating an effective social network in conjunction with the openness and transparency of the local group in relation to community members and internal community resources. What proved to be significant was the conditions of trust of the community members in the method of community work and the level of their activation. The set of these conditions is referred to as community readiness for change. Our research offers to community social workers a set of variables and their covariance, which must be taken into consideration when implementing community work in a socio-spatial excluded environment.
