Tradition, Democracy, and Radicalism in Indigenous Communities in Mexico. Lessons for the Universalist-Relativist and Individualist-Communitarian Debates.
Original language description
The debates between liberals and communitarians and between universalists and relativists seems to have no solutions. Yet people in actual life cannot afford not to find solutions and they do find them, in spite of theoretical irreconcilability of certain stances. The experiences and experiments with democracy in indigenous communities in Mexico provide an inspiration for these theoretical debates, showing that the individual and the community, tradition and democracy, individual and group rights are not necessarily in conflict if we de-reify groups and focuse on individual political actors, their self-understandings, interests and life projects.

Tradice, demokracie a radikalismus v indiánských obcích Mexika.
