Volunteering and its influence on volunteers working life
Original language description
Under volunteering we understand diverse and varied activities, which are not easily to define. Generally volunteering is defined as avolunteer work for others without claim for payment. A volunteer is seenas a person, who provides his time, knowledge and skills for otherswithout payment (Tošner, Sozanská 2002).Volunteering belongs to thesphere of altruism behaviour and is the object of plenty of surveys, dealing with motivation of volunteer or putting it in the context ofinvolvement of civil society. Not many surveys in Czech Republic aredealing with the volunteering in context of life career of volunteer and hisprofessional career. The aim of our survey is to investigate the influence ofvolunteering on life careers and working possibilities. Our goal is todetermine whether there is connection between volunteering and thepresent or future work of volunteer and what form these connection couldhave. In contrast to quantitative surveys, which in studies of volunteeringpredominate, we choose interpretative paradigm by using semi-structuredinterviews, completed by biographical interviews.
