Popis v původním jazyce * : The paper explores the work of the Japanese American author Hisaye Yamamoto, focusing on the traditional hierarchy of the Japanese family and the cultural ideas of Japanese etiquette. The main objective of the paper is to analyze the position of women in the Japanese American family as depicted in Yamamoto?s stories. Furthermore, the paper explores deviations from tradition and the consequences of the violation of traditional patterns.
