System of Values and Life Strategies of Young People in Višegrad Countries
Original language description
Values are hierarchically structured and form the basis of society. The value system is not stable but dynamic and can vary among different social groups. Based on the concept of R. Inglehardt and its modification made by H. Klages the presented research surveyed the present-day value systems of students in the Visegrad Four countries. The constructed questionnaire included questions for measuring the economic awareness of the youth. Economic awareness is a broad concept and contains items of economic knowledge, value system, work and entrepreneurship, the value of money and thriftiness, the attitude towards wealth and poverty and consumption. The results presented in this article are concerning values which are important in the student´s lives as well as attitudes and life strategies which characterize the approach of the young generation to tasks in both professional and private life. The analyses of the results are based on a comparison of the V4 countries.
