The Feast of the Visitation and its Historia: study and critical edition
Original language description
This study examines a previously unpublished text most frequently referred to in scholarship as the Historia institucionis festi Visitacionis gloriose Virginis Marie (or the "Legend of the Feast of the Visitation"). Historically misattributed to Nicholas of Rakovník († 1390), the work is shown to have been compiled at the beginning of the 15th century. It survives in seven 15th- and 16th-century manuscripts, alongside two Old Czech extracts.
