Specific and non-specific interactions during immobilization of heavy metals on coals
Original language description
Proportion between specific and non-specific types of interactions during immobilization of heavy metallic ions on the coal based samples was studied. As heavy metals, copper, cadmium and lead cations were used. Coal materials of various hydrophilic character were investigated-from highly hydrophilic samples to hydrophobic samples. For surface characterization of the samples, nitrogen BET surfaces, heats of immersion in water as well as the pH values in aqueous dispersions were determined. In addition, analysis of the oxygen functional groups was performed. The adsorption experiments with heavy metals were conducted in the batch mode at pH3 and 5. The metal concentrations were determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission
