Land use/land cover changes of the Pálava PLA and proposed Soutok PLA (Czech Republic) in 1841 - 2006
Original language description
The paper deals with land use/land cover (LULC) changes in the Pálava Protected Landscape Area (PLA) and in the proposed PLA (pPLA) Soutok. The LULC data were obtained from the maps (years 1841 and 1876) and aerial photos from (years 1938 and 2006). General trends in both the study areas are the following: i) a distinct decrease in grass-covered areas, ii) an increase in forested areas, iii) extensive changes in the forest management, iv) agricultural areas forming a mosaic of very small patches in theyear 1938, and v) an increase in linear vegetation corridors in 2006. Also analysis of the forest age structure of Soutok pPLA is presented. Obtained results show a distinct change in both the natural and cultural landscape structures in the study areasand can be used as a basis for the future management of the protected areas.
