Uncertainty in Business Process Modeling
Original language description
The paper deals with the modeling of uncertainty in business processes. REA ontology which is utilized for business process modeling focuses on value modeling of resource flows inside and outside of the business processes. The substantial feature of thisontology is its ability to strictly distinguish the planning activities and the operational activities. The real problem the business processes have to face to is that the planning values used to be breached in the operational phase. This situation brings about two problems to solve. The first one is the claim for not keeping the planning values and the second one addresses the decision to which state the business process is to transit to. Uncertainty, namely fuzzy decision making could provide sufficient theory and formalism to improve the current state. The paper identifies the main characteristics that have great influence on breaching planning value and propose solution to this issue.
