No larger battlefield in the universe of taxonomy ex-ists than the clashing of the pre- molecular and current genomic eras in the name of organizing the diversity in a meaningful way. Making order in the chaos of bio-diversity has become a crusade with the genomics/transcriptomics flag raised at the front. With the help of - omics techniques, uncovering of cryptic species and the discovery of truly novel organisms have enriched and reshaped the algal tree of life, reviving the spark in taxonomy and systematics.
