Original language description
Twenty species of Orthotrichum Hedw. were recorded from Poland in the latest catalogue of Polish mosses. A subsequent study excluded O. microcarpum De Not. from the moss flora of Poland, but added three species, O. shawii Schimp., O. alpestre Bruch & Schimp. and O. schimperi Hammarand one variety, O. affine var. bohemicum Plášek & Sawicki.
