Information Technology - Application of GNU Octave
Original language description
In the modern world of information technologies, knowledge of effective software tools is crucial for university students. The aim of the course Information technology 2 is to introduce powerful software enabling various applications useful not only in education. An example of such software is GNU Octave. In the course Information technology 2, this software is used in three various applications. Firstly, the software is presented as a tool for numerical computations and the students test it on real data. During the practical exercises, our students try to process and visualize numerical data. Then, students use the software in interesting applications focused on image and sound processing. This part allows the students to understand technical background of image and sound digital representation. This approach is slightly different from the traditional courses focused on multimedia applications.
