The article deals with the perspectives of empirical research on historical consciousness within the field of History didactics. The author defines the main theoretical foundations underlying the delineation and content of relevant academic research, focusing especially on certain aspects of historical consciousness and its categorization from which the subjects and targets of empirical research are then derived. She goes on to cite previously-conducted Czech and foreign research, and outlines problem areas important for the further growth of knowledge in the field of History didactics, and upon which empirical research on historical consciousness should be focused.
