    The study defines the basic constructs which are used in the university distance learning theories and practice. Distance learning is currently linked with eLearning and is becoming to be titled ?online distance learning?. The research on a representative sample of the University of Ostrava students, which was carried out within the scope of the 7th FP IRNet project, was aimed at how the individual components of the electronic learning environment, which enhance university distance learning elements, can be used.
