Enhancing students' mathematics learning skills with GeoGebra apps

  • Original language description

Contemporary theories in education underline the importance of active learner participation in the processes of education. One of the key arguments outlining this phenomenon is the “learn to learn” approach promoting learners’ simultaneous and conscious of their learning abilities. These abilities closely connected to soft skills becoming increasingly important for education as well as in employment. Thus, in Mathematics Education teaching must reach beyond doing calculations and memorizing formulas, but also develop soft skills. GeoGebra mobile apps are suitable and offer offer new opportunities to develop students’ mathematics knowledge as well as their soft skills. The use of mobile apps could contribute to increased motivation and willingness to learn of today's Z-generation students. In this paper, we present experiments with GeoGebra apps, such as AR and 3D printing, to achieve the described development goals. In addition, we will describe our data analyses and results of our trials with students and their teachers.
