  • Original language description

The article deals with funding of sport at the regional level in the Czech Republic. The paper aims to evaluate sport and leisure activities, focusing on allocated public expenditures from regional budgets in self-governing regions in the Czech Republic. Relations between public expenditures on sport and public expenditures on leisure activities and recreation from regional budgets of the Czech Republic in years 2010 and 2018 are tested by using correlation and regression analysis. The results showed differences between self-governing regions in the Czech Republic in public expenditures on sport and leisure activities and recreation per capita as a share of the total regions' expenditures in 2010 and 2018, which were also corroborated by the regression model. The allocated financial resources of self-governing regions in the Czech Republic are mainly related to the general economic potential, demographic and political factors of and preferences in funding of the individual areas of the public sector.
