Stiffness of beam in elasto-plastic state
Original language description
The determination of beam deflection in an elasto-plastic state is rather difficult because its deformation properties change. This change is seen in a change of the stiffness of the beam, which is a function of internal forces. A beam in an elasto-plastic state can have a different stiffness in each section even if the beam is prismatic. Solution of beam deflec-tion in such case is possible numerically - the beam is divided into small parts and each part has an assigned stiffness corresponding to acting internal forces. It is easy to evalu-ate the internal forces of a statically determinate structure; hence deflection or rotation can be determined directly. On a statically indeterminate structure are internal forces functions of stiffness of the beamand calculation of deflection must be done by iterative method. Example of use stiffness of beam in elasto-plastic state within virtual work method for determination of beam deflection is included. Example is calculated for statically det
