Original language description
This chapter, which is in Probabilistic Assessment of Structures using Monte Carlo Simulation - 2nd. edition), is focused on the data-base of steel properties forming. The actual characteristic properties of the load-bearing structural steel components and elements can be simply described, e.g., by histograms representing the scatter of mechanical and geometrical properties. Using probability-based reliability assessment concept, such as SBRA method, the safety, serviceability and durability can be assessed using simulation technique and computer. The level of reliability is checked by comparing the calculated probability of failure Pf and the target probability Pd
