Development of computer technology allows for consideration the application of probabilistic reliability assessment methods in structural design. The subject of this paper is the application of one of such probabilistic methods, SBRA, in the reliabilityassessment of steel columns. The simulation-based reliability assessment procedure is demonstrated and discussed. The results of a pilot study are compared with the results obtained according to Eurocode EC3 and the AISC LRFD code
