The article discusses a non-linear finite element analysis of concrete beam.The structure is modelled with use of 1D layered beam elements. The constiutive law is based on a smeared crack approach and a crack band model. An initial part of work is presented here. The article includes a brief information of the used approaches and a illustrative numerical example. The results ave been obtained through a computer program written in a Pascal language by author of the article.
