Ways of application of convergence measurements for prediction of geotechnical conditions for excavation of tunnels
Original language description
The paper outlines the possibilities of forecasting the geotechnical conditions on tunnel forefield according to the development of so called direction angles. These angles are determined from the shift of geodetic points and they can help us in early detection of yet unknown anomalies in the geology of the massif (changes of rock types, fault zones, atc.). They paper presents three typical examples of the direction angle development based on the shifts measured at Klimkovice tunnel. The first two examples document development of direction angles which forecast change of ground environment quality (presence of strata which different mechanical properties). The third example then represents development of direction angle at relatively constant geotechnical conditions in the forefield.
