    Load Carrying Capacity of Steel Arch Reinforcement Taking into Account the Geometrical and Physical Nonlinearity

    The paper is focused on the calculation of the load carrying capacity of the steel arch reinforcement in underground and mine workings taking into account the resulting large displacement and respecting the physical nonlinearity. Solution is based on the application of the so-called effective bending stiffness, which is defined as a function of the axial force and bending moment. The results of the numerical analysis are compared with the values of the load carrying capacity, which have been experimentally obtained on the sets of mining reinforcement under the load. The computational procedure has been also applied into the software utility that allows perform the calculation of the bearing capacity of steel arch supports very efficiently.
