The optimalization of pressure cell installation via numerical simulation

  • Original language description

The knowledge of a stress-state in a subsoil is important for the understanding of a load redistribution under a building foundation, but also for economy and reliable design. It is common to use the earth pressure cells (EPC) for measuring of a total earth pressure or stress-state under foundation load. The measured values are affected by many factors distorting the results, some of which can be corrected. One of the factors which, however, cannot be corrected, is the ratio of modulus of elasticity of the pressure cell and the surrounding subsoil, which should ideally be identical. The technology used to fit the pressure cells into the subsoil also affects the measurement significantly. The surrounding subsoil around the pressure cells must be homogeneous and evenly compacted. Otherwise there is a redistribution of stresses and distortion monitoring values. The article deals with optimization of the pressure cells installation into subsoil using parametric study. There is taking into account the above mentioned factors in a numerical simulation. (C) SGEM2016.
