Asphalt belt sliding joint - possible extension of use due to electric target heating
Original language description
Rheological bitumen sliding joints are utilized for elimination of friction in footing bottom at areas affected with underground mining where the horizontal terrain deformation is ex-pected. At Faculty of Civil Engineering, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava different types of asphalt belt have been tested since 2010. The influence of vertical and horizontal load and the effect of temperature in temperature controlled room has been examined. Currently targeted heating of asphalt belt used in specimen of sliding joint was tested. As-phalt belt heating is provided by power grid with electric resistance wire. Specimen of slid-ing joint is exposed to vertical and horizontal load and besides heated repeatedly in stages. The test results are used to prove wider utilization of sliding joint e.g. to eliminate the hori-zontal friction in case of foundations prestressing and also for mathematical modelling of soil-structure interaction. Sliding joints should contribute to designing of more durable and sustainable building structures.
