Influence of Flash Floods on the Drainage Systems of the Urbanized Areas
Original language description
The article deals with the adverse effects of flash floods on the sewer systems functionali-ty of urbanized areas. The floods themselves have been usually advaresed and long-term impacted on urban, municipal and surrounding areas. Otherwise, this is not the case with the sewer systems that are located in these areas. The combination of sewerage systems, floods and often also the effects of other inappropriately selected local environmental conditions can cause adverse impacts. The most pervasive is the situation of transport in-frastructure, where the effects of circumstances combination often result in instability in sloping areas, local dips, quarries and displacements, which are additionally intensified by underground and surface water flows, or the adverse effects of relatively powerful an-thropogenic layers in combination with groundwater flow patterns. These impacts effects have a significant impact on the functionality of the transport service of the urbanized ar-ea and thus contribute to its sustainability.
