Numerical analysis of double C profile connected by clinching technology

  • Original language description

The article deals with a numerical analysis of a composed steel thin-walled beam. The selected construction of the beam will be prepared for an upcoming three points bending test. The cross section of the beam is made of double C-shaped profiles that are connected by the clinching method. The connection is done at several levels along the length of the beam, which should provide sufficient interaction. This type of beam can be used in constructions of light steel thin-walled halls as a column or a roof truss. The article presents the basic information of the upcoming three points bending test of the beam structure. A part of this article is also dedicated to the description of the numerical modeling of the real test. The subject of the numerical analysis is to investigate the functionality of the considered connection as well as the whole structure of the beam. The article also indicates the possibility of identifying the critical locations in the construction. (C) 2019 Author(s).
