Original language description
This paper is aimed at the evaluation of parallel processing onto chloride ion ingress induced corrosion of reinforced concrete bridge decks. Chloride ion ingress analysis is important for assessment of the service time of reinforced concrete bridges because chlorides can initiate corrosion of steel reinforcement. Subsequent steel corrosion compromises the durability of reinforced concrete structures. The effectiveness of parallel processing is evaluated on the Monte Carlo based probabilistic modelling that incorporates finite elements analysis. Long computational times related to the application of crude Monte Carlo simulation are addressed by the use of MPI.
