Utilization of Monte Carlo method for modelling of the loading history of cyclically stressed structure

  • Original language description

The paper presents potentiality of stochastic prediction of load history based on Monte Carlo Method. The possibility of the calculation is not limited by the type of construction or the type of load. However, as an example, a steel truss structure supporting a crane track is presented; this specific type of load can cause fatigue damage. The procedure allows considering the history of loading of already existing structures. The process is based on the effort to use the available information from expert estimation of technician in combination with the probability method as faithful as possible. Possibilities of computational algorithm for estimating the Spectrum Stress Range are presented. The Rain Flow counting is included, allowing easier transition to subsequent parts of fatigue analysis in terms of calculation complexity. Examples of calculation outputs which contain several different assumptions are presented. (C) 2020 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
