Stress analysis of basic shapes of membrane structures
Original language description
Membrane structures are often designed as roofing for temporary and permanent buildings. Advantages of membranes are a very low weight, aesthetic airiness, high shape variability, large spans, and the aesthetics of the structures themselves. Three basic types were analysed in terms of extreme stresses and to assess the suitability of its use. For the analysis, the computing software RFEM was used. RFEM allows to find initial shape of membrane and rope structures using the additional modul, RF Form-Finding. This modul applies the Updated Reference Strategy method developed by the U.R. Brightzer and E. Ramma for finding the initial shape of structure.
