Restoration of the villa Grossmann
Original language description
František Grossmann's villa is one of the few villas of a larger scale built in Moravská Ostrava in thefirst half of the 1920s. Despite the fact that the situation in the country was different after 1918, the buildingcannot deny the strong influence of Vienna in Ostrava. The villa enters its surroundings with a classicizingarchitectural form, with elements of decorativism, which emphasizes a structured material composition. Thisis emphasized in the door and window surrounds, cornices, bay and gable design, with finely detailed decoration and complemented by other works of figural decoration. The uniqueness of the building also lies inthe interconnection with the administrative building, which is integrated into the urban design and the wholebuilding together with the garden thus transcends the relatively small-town environment of Moravian Ostrava. The paper focuses on the process of restoration of the building up to the start of work on the preparationof the project until the completion of the construction. It documents the procedures that were used in theimplementation and the approach to the overall philosophy of the villa's restoration.
