Fatigue resistance of structural elements made from high-strength steel
Original language description
The article is focused on the use of high-strength steel (HSS) in cyclically stressed structures and bridges. The fatigue behavior of these innovative materials has not yet been sufficiently investigated. The comparison of the reliability of the structural detail made from three types of HSS (grades S460, S690, and S960) with respect to fatigue resistance is carried out based on laboratory obtained fatigue parameters and subsequent probabilistic modeling of fatigue damage prediction. The criterion for comparison were the calculated times of the first inspections focusing on carrying-capacity element susceptible to fatigue damage, which are determined using defined target probability of failure.
