The Comparison of Node-to-Segment and Segment-to-Segment Methods in Contact Elastic Problems

  • Original language description

This paper is a part of our ongoing efforts in algorithm development aimed at addressing linear and non-linear elasticity contact problems. Specifically, within the scope of this paper, we undertake a comparative analysis of two distinct mortar contact methods designed for the assembly of linear inequalities. Inequalities in contact problems enforce non-penetration of bodies which are discretized by the finite element method. It is essential to emphasize that the accurate and efficient assembly of these inequalities is pivotal to ensuring a correct solution that satisfies the conditions of contact non-penetration. The results are compared on the Hertz problem.
