Original language description
Already for a rather long time, unhealthy to carcinogenic effects of asbestos have been known. For this reason, asbestos application to structural members is strictly prohibited in many countries. In the last, asbestos was used as a part of materials andproducts utilised in the area of structural fire safety, especially in the protection of steel constructions. In the course of rehabilitation, if any fire protective layers containing asbestos exist in the building, it is necessary to consider very carefully whether to remove them, or whether to employ modern methods based on the encapsulation of asbestos fibres.
