    Electrostatic Spark Initiation

  • Original language description

The manipulation of inflammable liquids is always accompanied by fire or explosion risks. The aim of this paper is to quantify the risk of electric discharges during the manipulation of explosive mixtures. This contribution deals especially with the initiation of explosive steams mixed with air. Further it quantifies the energy arisen and accumulated on the human body. It discusses real energy released by the electric discharge in the spark gap as well. Values of the energy were measured. By comparing the known values of MIE with the measured energy values it is possible to determine whether the given electric spark is able to initiate an explosion.
