Working in the Fire Service Unit is not only the service for the benefi t of ensuring safety of citizens but a hard and dangerous job classifi ed among those with a high occupational risk. The risks a fi refi ghter deals with on a daily basis refer both to their work in the unit as well as their work during a rescue and fi refi ghting peration. In the paper, there has been presented the analysis of threats and accidents in the Fire Service Unit of the capital city of Warsaw. There have been characterized occupational threats in the job of a fi refi ghter and their possible consequences. There has also been conducted the analysis of the accidents in the Fire Department Unit of the capital city of Warsaw, taking into account the factors determined using the MTO analysis.
