Original language description

This paper is an essay on the importance of the genius loci effect and the influence of emotions-on how they influence a locality&apos;s character and perception and judgments of its value. It also explores brownfields (post-industrial sites) as a consequence of urban growth and as a source of criminality. It examines the meaning and mission of emotional and mental maps. It then explains the importance of environmental design and how the emotions that influence behavior are formed. Likewise emotional maps and their online use as tools for participation-based planning of public spaces. It lastly looks at emotional maps and their application in practice as security tools.
