Bending of the layered conveyer belt.
Original language description
The flat conveyer belt can be used for transport of material in capsulated form. If both edges of the belt are clasped together, the material is rounded into closed volume. Then, during transport, the material can not be dumped. The important question iswhat is the rounded area because this determines the amount of transported material. Also the proportions of the clasped belt (especially horizontal width) have the importance for the general configuration of the transport device. The task was solved via computer modelling using the finite element method. There are several inputs for the modelling. The testing of material properties (the stress-strain curve) and measured deformed shape of the belt under the gravitation forces. The first was used to build the model, the second to verify it. The result of the modelling is 1) the deformed shape of the clasped belt, 2) the reaction forces in the belt edges connection
