Numerical Simulation as a Tool for the Solution and Understanding of Practical Air Pollution Problems
Original language description
Numerical simulation of the non-isothermal turbulent flow was applied as a tool to investigate the flow in the atmospheric boundary layer. The whole set of the three-dimensional conservation equations defined for mass, momentum, energy and scalar quantities was solved using CFD code Fluent. Numerical modelling of the gaseous pollutant in a complex terrain illustrates the possible application of the hydrodynamic wind model. The topological data were obtained from the geographical information system (GIS). Meteorological phenomena were partly taken into account via the physical model (compressibility, buoyancy, gravity) and partly by the boundary condition definition, especially at the inlet boundary.
