Application of Bézier surfaces to investigation of a non-stationary flow in narrow 2D regions of irregular shape
Original language description
In a number of technological applications the liquids flow in regions of irregular shape and their flow can be considered as 2D. Geometry of such regions can be suitably described by Bézier surfaces and positions of the individual points are then definedby curvilinear coordinates. The flow of Newtonian liquid is governed by the Navier-Stokes equations and the equation of continuity. The first step of their solving by the developed method requires to convert them into a conservative form. Then the derivatives with respect to the cartesian coordinates are replaced by the corresponding derivatives with respect to the curvilinear ones utilizing Bézier surfaces for this purpose. The coordinate transformation throws out the conservative form of the governing equations and therefore they must be recast into it again. This procedure transforms solution of the Navier-Stokes equations and the equation of continuity related to the irregular region to their solution referred to an auxillary recta
