This article is focused on the experimental determination of tool life tests for indexable ceramic cutting inserts. The cast iron 25P was machined material, used for car engines. The aim was to determine the number of machined inserts, tool life and microgeometry. We used longitudinal turning on the turning lathe - CHEMNITZ NILES N22. D 250 ceramic cutting inserts were tested, by Saint Gobain Advanced Ceramics s.r.o company. Tool wear was monitored every fifth machined sleeve. Microgeometry was measuredafter the tool wear test. The main aim was to determine the arithmetic tolerance of Ra profile, the biggest height of Rz profile, the external diameter D and roundness. Criterion of tool wear was set at VBBmax = 0,6 mm (in accordance with ISO 3685 norm)and the measurement was carried out four times.
