"Calculation of service life under variable load" which is the 6th part of the standard ISO 6336 - Calculation of load capacity of spur and helical gears, got out in 2004 [1]. This part was innovated in 2006 and it is still valid. This is a fairly effective tool that defines the procedure for processing of a gear pair loading spectrum using stress levels method. On this basis we can numerically calculate a service life or a safety factor for a demanded service life. The article wants to show some aspects of the use of this standard. It also calls user attention to contained typos and errors. At the same time, however, it indicates their proper wording
