Increasing the Load Capacity of Screw Connections in Parts Produced by the Rapid Prototyping Method

  • Original language description

With respect to a wider availability of the Rapid Prototyping (hereinafter as RP) technology, there is a higher number of its applications. Simple demonstration models and models for basic functionality verification gradually turn into more complex construction units. Those must be assembled with respect to the maximum producible part dimensions as well as reasons of unit functionality or fiber orientation concerning anticipated forces applied to the part. The paper follows up previous research of experimental determination of the maximum torque, or more precisely of the force applied in the screw connection point in polycarbonate parts produced by the RP technology. The paper extends the original research with experimental determination of the maximum tightening torque of a screw connection in parts produced by the additive technology FDM, where the samples were supplied with more perimeter contours in the connection point.
