Original language description
An actively controlled journal bearing of the mentioned type is designed with a non-rotating loose bushing, the position of which is controlled by piezoactuators according to the journal po-sition related to the bearing body. The paper is focused on the estimation of the radial stiffness of the bearing for their use in machine tools. The stiffness analysis is based on a calculation of the oil flow distribution in the clearance gap through the solution of Reynold's equation and the subsequent estimation of the parameters of the simplified equivalent model which was suggest-ed by Muszynska. This model of the oil film will allow the use of the classical control theory to calculate the steady state error which is related to the steady-state radial load.
